As a transfer student, you’ve been through the ropes when it comes to college admission. But that’s not to say you don’t have questions. Transferring to another university is a totally different animal. So here are answers to some of the more common questions we get from transfer students…
What do I need to include in my transfer admissions packet?
You’ll need to submit an application for admission, official copies of all college transcripts (sent directly to Michigan Tech from each school), and your official high school transcript. If you already hold an associate degree or higher, you don’t need to submit your high school transcript.
When should I have my application materials sent in?
For summer and fall semester applicants, priority consideration for admission, financial aid, and scholarships is given to students who apply by January 15.
Spring semester applicants should apply at least 30 days before the start of the semester.
Will all of my credits transfer to Michigan Tech?
Transfer credit is granted for appropriate courses completed off campus with a grade of "C" or better. Most transfer credits usually satisfy Michigan Tech’s general education requirements. View our transfer guides and transfer equivalency listings for more details.
What kind of support services are there for transfer students?
Michigan Tech maintains a full-time Transfer Services Office for new, current, and former students intending to transfer courses here. The office is located in the Administration Building, Room 110.
Do you offer scholarships specifically for transfer students?
Absolutely. Transfer students have access to virtually the same array of scholarships as incoming first-year students, as well as some available just for transfer students.
Who can I contact for further information?
