Applied Geophysics

You know that playing with rocks isn’t just for kids. That’s why applied geophysics, which uses physical properties to interpret earth features, doesn’t just sound cool – it is cool! Applied geophysics is an essential degree in the mining world. And at Michigan Tech, applied geophysics majors learn hands-on techniques on state-of-the-art technology. As an applied geophysics major, your career path may take you to the environmental, mining, or petroleum industries. You’ll get to conduct site investigations using geophysical techniques. The construction of dams, roads, buildings, landfills, and waste repositories, and mining for precious metals or drilling for oil and gas, will depend on you.

And before you get ready to plunge into your applied geophysics career, here are a few things you should know about the program…
