Parent Community

Michigan Tech partners with parents and families to help ensure student success. You can stay in touch with Michigan Tech in three ways:

"MTUParent-l" — an email discussion list, unedited, that allows parents to talk among themselves and with staff, faculty, and students at Michigan Tech to address concerns such as grades, FAFSA, tutors, summer storage, and more.

ParentNet—A Weekly Letter for Parents from a Michigan Tech Student—Produced every Tuesday, this “letter home” discusses the many concerns of parents and students, including cell phone coverage, transportation home, residence hall life, broomball, and more.

A Student Abroad—A Weekly Note from a Student in a Foreign Nation—Students have written this piece from Australia, Costa Rica, England, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, and Spain. Similar to ParentNet, it covers topics of interest to students and parents, with a focus on studying overseas.

Banweb Guest Access at Michigan Tech
The online Guest Access system allows students to grant selected individuals access to their private student record information.

Parent Orientation
Offered in the fall, Parent Orientation provides numerous opportunities for families to get information and speak to upper-level students, faculty, and administrators. Sessions begin during move-in weekend and conclude on the first day of Orientation—Saturday through Monday—and include a Parent Summer Reading Discussion, a Parent Panel with Orientation Team Leaders, a President's Reception, and much more.
